NH = Nice Hand. Used to either compliment someone on their quality hand or as a sarcastic remark after a bad beat delivered by the person being given the “NH” comment.
GH = Good hand. Similar to NH.
GG = Good game.
GL = Good luck
WP = Well played.
BRB = Be right back
Fish = Bad poker player.
Fishing = Trying to hit a longshot draw.
Whale = Really bad poker player.
Donk / Donkey = Bad poker player.
Shark = Good poker player.
PRO = Professional poker player.
WD = Well done.
N1 = Nice one.
G1 = Good one.
PLO = Pot limit Omaha.
NL = No limit.
FL = Fixed limit
O8 = Omaha 8 or better poker game.
7c = 7 card stud poker game.
5d = 5 card draw poker game.
HU = Headsup, 1-on-1 poker.
HU PLS = Headsup please. You could be told hu pls when you sit down in a table where two players are playing. It is up to if you want to respect their request to play headsup.
HO = Holdem/Omaha, mixed poker game including both texas holdem poker and Omaha poker.
HORSE = Poker game in which actually 5 different poker games rotate: texas holdem, Omaha 8 or better, razz, stud and 7 card stud high /low.
Stars = PokerStars.
Tilt = Either meaning that player is playing badly thus is on “tilt” or referring to Full Tilt Poker online poker room.
UB = Poker room formerly known as UltimateBet and now simply as UB.
AP = Absolute Poker.
UTG = Under the gun. The first poker player to act on the first betting round.
BB = Big blind.
SB = Small blind.
Button = The player who sits in the seat which the dealer button is currently closest to.
Position = “I had position on him” means that the player was acting after his opponent.
Stake = Giving someone money to play poker.
Bust = Out of the tournament or out of money.
BR = Bankroll, how much poker money you have.
